It is not unusual for workers in Colorado and other states to work under a contract. Contracts may help both workers and employers better understand what is expected from each side as far as the terms of the employment. Unfortunately, disputes may arise when it comes to negotiating terms between employer and employee, especially when an employment contract has expired.
A similar situation is currently taking place in another state. Reports indicated that the issue is between a group of nurses and the health care system under which they work. The 5,000 nurses affected by the situation feel that the offer regarding new contract terms previously offered were unsatisfactory. They feel that there is an “unwillingness” to address workplace violence, staffing issues and health insurance benefits.
The health care system stated that it is working to have the nurses covered under a health plan similar to that of other employees. Further details on the terms offered were not reported. It was stated that if the nurses do not gain satisfactory terms, they will go on strike some time this month.
It is not unusual for there to be some conflict when it comes to negotiations concerning employment contracts. However, if the situation becomes unmanageable, there may be reason to move forward with legal action. If Colorado employees feel that their employment contract negotiations or other job issues are at a stalemate, they may wish to learn more about what options they have for filing an employment law claim in hopes of obtaining just terms.
