Minimum wage law violations could impact Colorado workers

Many individuals take pride in working hard for their income. As a result, it can be exceedingly disheartening when an employer fails to properly compensate workers. If individuals have faced wage theft or similar violations, they may wish to consider filing a wage and hour claim in order to gain compensation for minimum wage law violations.

Colorado residents may be interested in a situation taking place in another state regarding unpaid wages. Reports stated that approximately two dozen workers were affected by wage theft from a company that operates adult care centers. The workers were not paid minimum wage and were not given overtime pay though they may have worked 12-hours days at times. It was also reported that the employees would work night shifts and not receive compensation for that time.

Labor standards officials cited the operator of the company due to the violations. As a result, the employees are to be collectively reimbursed nearly $200,000, approximately $150,000 in damages and more than $25,000 in interest. The company was also cited for civil penalties and will be required to pay a fine.

Minimum wage law violations can cause many individuals to be negatively impacted. Not only are such violations illegal, the failure to properly compensate workers can cause the lives of those workers to be unnecessarily difficult financially. If Colorado workers have been the victims of wage theft or other wage law offenses, they may wish to consider filing a wage and hour claim. Such a claim could help them work toward gaining compensation.
