Employment discrimination may lead to legal action in Colorado

On Behalf of | Mar 17, 2016 | Workplace Discrimination

When individuals feel as if they are being treated unfairly, they may be uncertain how to handle the situation. They may feel as if there is nothing they can do. If individuals are facing employment discrimination, there could be serious legal repercussions for those discriminating against individuals due to race, age, gender or other factors.

Colorado residents may be interested in such a situation that took place in another state. Reports stated that the U.S. Department of Labor filed a suit against a company for discriminating against individuals based on race and gender. The company apparently hired only Hispanic males for certain positions as part of its hiring practices. It was also noted that even those workers hired were passed over for promotion and compensation in favor of white workers and that those Hispanic workers were also subjected to other racist treatment while on the job.

A representative for the company stated that all employees were treated fairly and equally. However, the company was unable to rectify violations found after a review was conducted at the facility. Among those violations was a lack of hiring Asian individuals. Due to the violations, the lawsuit was filed against the company.

Employment discrimination is a serious matter, and individuals can be negatively affected and miss opportunities. If individuals believe that they have faced such discrimination, they may have legal options they wish to look into. Colorado residents may wish to file a legal claim in order to have the violations addressed and learn how they could benefit from pursuing such action.
